I decided that I wasn’t happy with the layout I had created. It felt blank and over crowed as I added more information to it. So I scrapped it.
For biccy.net 3.0 I wanted it to be mostly a single page website. I also wanted it to use responsive web design.
Initial mock up of new website design.
The website has been coming along slowly. But well. I’ve gotten the hang of RWD and I’m still learning a bit of PHP.
There’s still a lot to do but most of it will just be “filling” the site.
So it’s that time again. Where I re-design my whole website.
So it’s not quite finished but this time around I have custom fonts working AND I’ve been learning PHP… and when I say I’ve been learning PHP, I learnt how the include() function works and now I can have one header and one footer file and it’s going to make editing a lot easier.
Here’s how the design is looking so far:
I also updated my resume and PDF folio so I wanted the website to match in design.
Here’s what the site currently looks like and has looked like since 2013:
Annnnnnd here’s what it originally looked like six years ago. six years. My gosh how design has changed since then. (The whole layout is just a table)
It’s quite funny, the newest design is the most simplest yet the most code intense.
The website is coming along nicely, there’s nothing in the 3d section yet but I’m planning to upload the thing soon. It’s taken me too long to get this all together >.> I’m going to be working on the about page today, but I’m unsure what I want to put there. Hmmm.
I’m still fixing the main.css page to perfect the style of the website but it’s at a stage where I’m happy and ready to fill with stuff. Currently I’m working on the game page because that has the most stuff.
I’m using fancybox to make life easy, fancybox is pretty damn awesome it can hold swf files! And other non image format files. Fancybox is also so simple to use, I love it! I don’t fully understand jquery and java enough to explain what fancybox is doing… it just makes websites so much nicer looking.
The game page is almost done, about 50%? The blue boxes are temp images to give me an idea of how things are looking. Tomorrow/today, I’ll be taking some screen shots of pyweek games I’ve worked on.
I’m not 100% sure if I’m happy with the thumbnail sizes, but I can always fix them later. I duno, the size they currently are aren’t bad, they just seem so large…
My PC had the old version of my website. So I though I’d upload the old version and the new version I’m currently working on. The new version has changed a little since this afternoon. Gosh. It’s crazy how bad the old version (pink one) looks compared to the new one (blue one).
You can also see how similar they are. Candy stripes and I’m using the same font for the title. The over-all idea is pretty much similar, with the whole categories thing going on.
Not sure if I’ve matured or I just am better as a designer now maybe both?
Gosh, I feel embarrassed about my poor colour choices in the old design.
Also while CSS has been a huge pain it’s kinda nice being able to do things I wasn’t able to do in plain HTML.
Hm. I really need a new showreel…
There has been lots of sobbing while learning CSS. The way it goes is, do something, something else fucks up.
After enough time you eventually get what you want. I’ve had to edit my cloud image a number of times, cutting it into different slices. Currently it’s made up of 11 images all neatly cut so they will fit together.
Here’s what the side looks like so far:
If you put the cursor over the “home/about/blog ect” they change colour….
This is what I’ve done in two days… TWO days. >.>
First project after finishing honours is to redo my biccy.net website.
Yesterday and today I spent time designing the damn thing in photoshop. My last website layout was kinda girly, very pink, so this time I wanted to use blue. My originally idea didn’t seem to work out to well however after some fiddling and what not I managed to settle on something that I like.
Tomorrow JB is going to help me get it into CSS. Hopefully getting the website back up and running won’t take too long.
I want to try and update this blog a little more often then I did last year, which means I just have to keep myself busy with random little things. :P
Anyways today I did a nice big update on my website: biccy.net
- I’ve added a links page
- pyweek games have been posted up, I’m thinking if I should get some videos of them in game or not.
- puzzle path has also been added to the website :D
- I’ve also changed the background :P
One day I’ll get around to the 3D side of that website, one day.
A few weeks ago I started re working on my website, one of my home work assignments for uni was called “Market yourself” we had to upload a mock up of our portfolio web page and I though I could do one better and actually make the site, it’s still being worked on and there’s a lot to still add, but most of it’s done and the general flow of things are down.
I even made a little show reel which I need to redo but it makes me happy. I’m hoping that it’ll be an always changing site, upload new art works which replace old ones and so forth. But that won’t be happening until I get everything up on the site. I’m going to work on the pyweek game page next, and then mods and slowly work down the list.
I’m not too sure why, but I made the website pink. I wanted to take a step away from the black and white-ness I normally go with and some how I went from purple-brown to pink. But I like the layout, it’s got a chocolates and sweets theme to it.
