No drawings this week, I was busy cutting up paper and making birthday cards :P

A while ago I bought a set of scissors, I guess it’s more of a set of blades then scissors. It’s a pair of scissors with a bunch of attachment blades. It’s basically a set of them crazy scissors that cut in funny patterns and what not. (Coz I know what I’m talking about) I found them at smiggle for like 15 bucks.

Coz cutting in straight lines is for sissies!

They come in handy when making pretty birthday cards :D

I like to make cards over buying them when I have the time and am inspired to making something :D

I just wish I was better are writing stuff in them. Tho lately I think I’ve been getting better at putting random text in cards

Melody Calls

Kingdom hearts would have to be the fandom I got the most into. In 2003 I created Melody, an original character for the kingdom hearts universe :P (Ah so geeky so geeky) It’s amazing how much I still remember all the effort I had placed in creating Melody from the characters I based her design on to the back story and how it would match up with the actual kingdom hearts time line.

After drawing Melody again after all these years I can’t help but think… Why did I draw so many bits of chain?

Gunslinger Kelly

I think this is the longest time I’ve ever spent on a drawing, but it was manly due to the on and off-ness, each night I would spend a little time adding more to the drawing

The blue thing on her belt is her mask, I actually forgot to draw it on her face and I liked her expression too much to draw over it.

de Blob: The underground

So E3, a freaking huge video game conference has just happen. The announcements of many games and surprises. Game news pretty much flooded over and made us little geeks such happy things. There are things that I’m looking forward to very much (portal2 and kirby yarn are some must gets for me)

In the weeks leading up to E3, bluetongue; manly the team I was in was very busy with getting our demo ready in time and making it look awesome.

So I guess it’s no real surprises that a second blob game is to be released, our surprises was that it’ll be across all 3 platforms, wii, PS3 and Xbox360. (blob in HD omg!)19

For any of you who don’t know what de blob is it’s a game about a colourless world and you play as a blob who has the ability to soak up paint and colour the world pretty, free monochrome citizens and defeate the evil I.N.K.T corporation.

I think it was in my first year of uni when some kids from bluetongue had come over to RMIT to show us de blob, it was amazing and to be working on it’s squeal it almost mind blowing. I’m quite lucky to be sitting next to two amazing level designers, it gives me joy to know that one of them use to be an intern as well. :)

de blob was an amazing games, but the squeal just blows it away. And I’m not just saying this coz I’ve been working on it. It really is. When I compare the two games I sit there in shocked in how much the game has gotten better yet it’s still for the same platform.

de blob: the underground is a game that’s been made from love and lols. And I’m so happy that I get to add my own love and lols into the mix of it all.

Game news

Steam came out on mac earlier this week. And with that valve is giving away Portal for free :D

If you don’t know portal is a short puzzle game where by thinking with portals you solve puzzles :D (if you want a non-lame explanation of portal I suggest you go and goggle it) You play as a test subject working for Aperture Science. An AI known as GLaDOS is your guild though out the game. And you go test chamber by test chamber with the promise of cake.

I really like portal, it was in a way the first computer game I had played and finished. It’s the game that started it all (But L4D is the game that me trigger happeh :D )

Anyways, so if you are a mac or a PC user I recommend you get Portal, just please remember; Portal came out in 2007, while the jokes might be new to you, we have all heard ‘em before and some of them have been worn out due to idiots who don’t know when to shut up.

Other game news is that Conor is doing is iPhone course again at RMIT. So if games on the iPhone or iPad is something you’d like to developed for and you have the time, I recommend you check it out. Conor was a excellent supervisor for my 3rd year project so you will be in good hands :D
